Director General of Civil Aviation says that more than 100 foreign pilots are employed at the Srilankan Airlines Ltd as chief pilots still we could not train pilots from our home country due to the lack of resources.
Mr. H.M.C.Nimalsiri, DGCA has further mentioned that approximately 200 foreign and local chief pilots are working in the SriLankan Airlines Ltd. There are only 22 aircraft in SriLankan fleet and it is not enough to train chief pilots. At present a chief pilot is paid approximately Rs.1.2 million and total including other allowances is approximately Rs.1.9million.
