7.3 million Tourists arrived in the island last year from the Katunayake International Airport. There was a need for a second International Airport in the country and the President fulfilled this need. Development is taking place in every part of the country. Development is not only limited to Mattala.
Now it is spreading to the Eastern Province too. Ampara domestic airport is a good example to that and the modernization of the internal Air services will serve as a catalyst for the growth in the tourism industry.
