SriLankan Airlines acquires nine wide-body aircraft to replace fleet

Sri Lanka’s national carrier, SriLankan Airlines, replacing its fleet with wide-body aircraft will take delivery of its first brand new Airbus A330-300 aircraft during the last week of October 2014.
The carrier has finalized its Wide Body Fleet Replacement Plan, including the financing of the first nine aircraft, Minister of Civil Aviation Priyankara Jayaratne informed the Cabinet.
The airline will purchase of six A330-300 aircraft powered by Rolls Royce Trent 700 engines from Airbus for delivery commencing in the last quarter of 2014 to 2015.
It will lease three additional A350-900 aircraft to be delivered in 2017 as replacement for A330-200 aircraft.
